Beyond traditional techniques, our workshop carries out specific and experimental processes designed to further enhance the printed piece.

Blind Embossing (Impression and Relief)

A technique used to sculpt the paper surface, creating raised tactile effects without the use of ink. By pressing two opposing plates together, the paper is shaped in a controlled way, producing a subtle three-dimensional relief that can be both seen and felt. It can be used on its own for a clean, minimal aesthetic, or combined with ink letterpress printing for added depth.

Custom Inks and Color Backgrounds

Archivio Tipografico uses only custom-mixed inks, ensuring accurate and vibrant color reproduction. Given a specific color reference or Pantone code, we can precisely match it — even within the range of fluorescent inks. It is also possible to print solid color backgrounds on various paper stocks, within the limits of the available formats. This process is especially suited for brand identity projects that require exact color consistency.

White ink produces a semi-transparent result and does not provide full coverage. The color of the paper beneath will always remain slightly visible.

Metallic Inks

As an alternative to hot-foil stamping, and to reduce plastic use in the printing process, our workshop offers metallic inks. Their pigments are highly reflective, especially on coated or smooth papers, producing a luminous, refined effect that enriches the printed work.

Edge Painting

A finishing technique that allows the edges of the paper to be colored with one or more tones. This process works beautifully on small printed pieces, such as cards or invitations, adding a touch of color and sophistication.

Photogravure

A special manual printing process carried out with an intaglio press and photopolymer plates, ideal for artistic reproductions of photographic halftones with exceptional richness in detail and tonal gradation.
