Hbitat_00 (Ed. Albertina Press)

Hbitat is a project carried out in collaboration with the Accademia Albertina di Belle Arti in Turin.

It consists of a series of art books designed and printed by people who attended the Graphic Arts course under the supervision of Sonia Gavazza. The artistic printing produced at the Academy is complemented by the design and printing of texts in movable type, as well as the binding and final assembly, at Archivio Tipografico.

Four books were produced in the pilot edition. The same people who designed and printed the works also handled the composition and printing in multiple sessions of collective training and collaborative work in the Archivio Tipografico workshop.

UN, a project by Angelica Vitella and Meiheng Chen
The book presents a reflection on the concepts of indeterminacy and relativity, in a space where white becomes the protagonist. Too often, humans are guided by the desire to determine things, to seek control over them, in order to counter feelings of uncertainty, indefiniteness, and loneliness. In UN, the authors allowed themselves to be guided by the desire not to desire control: essential lines and shapes dance in a white space that becomes music, expression, and freedom.

Corredo di sopravvivenza per il figlio unico, designed and created by Sara Miotto, Luna Rosato, and Francesca Bocchetto
The book stems from the desire to highlight the complexity of childhood, particularly the dramatic, melancholic, and solitary aspects of being an only child—a child without brothers or sisters to play and share experiences with, who may need a “kit” of devices to navigate life. The result is a completely blue box, symbolizing melancholy, containing a micro-macro world to explore slowly, where one can lose oneself in moments of rediscovered solitude.
